Liverpool and Luan have been linked for over a year now. Reports from both the English and Brazilian press have long suggested an interest for the Grêmio player, with the latest updates coming out just last month.

But now there’s a good reason for this saga to be over, and not with a happy ending for those who wanted the move to happen.

According to UOL today, there was a Liverpool director in Abu Dhabi to watch the World Cup of Clubs in December, when Grêmio faced Real Madrid in the tournament final.

Luan didn’t have a good game back then, and that was the reason Liverpool were convinced not to present an offer for the Brazilian forward.

UOL claims that Luan was offered to Liverpool via intermediaries, and after repeatedly finding ‘resistance’, there’s now a strong opinion that the club shouldn’t go for him.

A bit harsh on a player who had a bad night against the Champions of Europe.
