Tottenham Hotspur are in the mix to sign RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan in the summer, according to Sky journalist Philipp Hinze.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the defender is ready to change clubs, and the Premier League ‘appeals’ him. However, the 23-year-old will only take this step in the summer if there’s a firm option.
Tottenham could be that option for the centre-back as they are interested in signing him, along with Newcastle United.
His deal lasts until 2027 and the journalist states it includes a €70m release clause that will be active in the summer.
Online, Sky Deutschland have provided additional information on the Frenchman’s future and the Premier League interest.
As of now, it’s unlikely for Ange Postecoglou’s side or any other club to pay €70m for the player.
Leipzig, for their part, can use the clause as a reference if they were to receive an offer that’s below their expectations. They don’t want to part ways with Simakan, and are in the driving seat.
