The transfer window has been particularly disappointing for Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.
The Frenchman expected offers from Real Madrid and other huge European clubs, after his performances at the Euros, but none of them have turned up so far.
Newcastle have set an asking price of €40m for Sissoko, and that is proving to be a stumbling block. However, Sissoko could still seal a move to a Champions League club, if reports in France are to be believed.
According to French daily L’Equipe, Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to sign Sissoko, but face competition from Everton and West Bromwich Albion.
L’Equipe say negotiations took place yesterday between Newcastle, Sissoko’s representatives and Tottenham, but without significant progress today an imminent transfer won’t happen.
It’s reported every outcome is possible before tonight’s deadline. Sissoko could stay at the Championship club, or could head to any of the three interested Premier League clubs.
It’d be interesting to see if the Championship club are ready to lower their asking price to allow Sissoko to seal a move to the Premier League.
