Bournemouth star Jefferson Lerma has insisted rumours linking him with a move to Valencia were ‘totally false’.
Lerma has been with the Cherries since 2018 when he arrived in a £25.2m deal from Spanish side Levante.
He’s been a mainstay in the team since then, even staying with them last summer when they were relegated to the Championship.
That saw several players leaving the club, which is the norm when sides are relegated from the Premier League and have to cut costs, among other things.
Lerma stayed and has been a key player for Bournemouth throughout this campaign, but things could have been different, with several rumours last summer linking him with a move back to Spain.
Valencia were the ones reportedly keen on his signature, with it stated they had ‘enquired’ about a move and even ‘opened the way’ for it to happen.
That obviously didn’t come to pass, and now the Bournemouth man has commented on the rumours, dismissing them as false.
“Totally, I feel happy, grateful to the club and enjoying every moment here,” he told Gol Caracol.
“It’s totally false, the approach with Valencia, that’s the truth. My representative has not had any conversation with them.
“Previously, there was an option, but now what they tell you is a lie. We will work and wait to see what can happen in the future.”
