Last week it was confirmed Pontus Jansson would be joining Leeds United on a permanent deal from Torino in the summer. This has gone down well with the Elland Road faithful, who have taken the Swede to their hearts, but some Torino fans are unhappy with the Serie A club for letting him leave.
Toro.it have reported on Jansson agreeing to a €4m move to Leeds United after just two seasons playing in Italy. One Torino fans has hit out at the club leaders and coaching staff for allowing Jansson to be sold saying it’s a ‘big mistake’ the Sweden international is joining Leeds United. They lay the blame with Torino coach Sinisa Mihajlovic for not giving the 25-year-old a chance, especially with Kamil Glik signing for AS Monaco in the summer.
“Big mistake not believing in him, he’s definitely better than many defenders that we currently have and was intended to replace Glik, then came Mihajlovic with his choices.”
Another Torino fan has questioned the club for letting Jansson go, saying the defender has never disappointed for the club and is technically good.
“Jansson has never disappointed me. Highly technical, large physically and good positional sense. I do not understand those who say that he was too slow.”
The consensus among the Torino fans is that owner Urbano Cairo took the decision to sell Jansson to Leeds United, and the money will not be reinvested into the squad. Torino are now looking to cash in on Bruno Peres and Nikola Maksimovic which is again unlikely to go down well with their fans.
