Aston Villa have made an approach for Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and not been knocked back like they may have been in the past.
That’s according to Il Mattino, who say the defender is now considering a move to the Premier League after seemingly being less than keen on it in the past.
The newspaper cover the player today as Italian champions Napoli plan a big summer rebuilding their squad following the disappointments of this season.
They’re expected to lose several stars from the current first team, with Victor Osimhen at the top of the list, and Di Lorenzo could also be on it.
The newspaper reports that he ‘has the court’ of the Premier League, in other words he is being courted by Premier League sides, and they name Aston Villa specifically as one of them.
They then add that ‘this time he thinks about it’, indicating that he has now changed his mind about a possible move after being less than keen on it in the past.
Whether that means he’d accept an offer from Aston Villa remains to be seen but given their current rise and the fact they may offer Champions League football next season, it seems it’s not completely out of the question for him.
