Although some Brighton fans are waiting for Alexis Mac Allister to join the Seagulls soon, clubs in Argentina actually hope he can sign for them before he moves to England.
That’s a strange situation. The Premier League side bought Mac Allister back in January in a €8m deal, but due to work permit issues they’re still waiting for him to make the move.
Now as reported by journalist German Garcia Grova, three Argentine sides are looking to land him due to the via problems. One of them is Boca Juniors, who sent Brighton a ‘formal offer’.
There are three presented scenarios.
The first one is for Mac Allister to stay at Argentinos Juniors for six more months on a loan deal.
But Brighton could loan him out for an entire season, with the possible destinations being Boca Juniors and Independiente. In Boca’s case, they would even have a buying option over the player.
For Brighton to loan Mac Allister for another entire year, that’s probably because they don’t believe he’s getting a work permit so soon. So depending on the move he’s agreeing this summer, that will say a lot about how confident the Seagulls are about counting on the player in the future.
TyC also reports Boca’s bid, and claims Brighton will give them a response before the weekend.
