A year from the end of his Chelsea contract, there is no better time for Emerson Palmieri to finally secure his move away from Stamford Bridge and return to Italy.
The defender has been linked with a move back to Serie A for as long as we can remember, and yet none of the reportedly interested club ever made a move.
Sky Italia see it differently this time around, however, mostly due to this being the final chance for Chelsea to get some money back, and Inter, who will be bringing in Simone Inzaghi to replace Antonio Conte, are ‘serious’ about signing him.
Relayed by FC Inter News, the outlet explain the Serie A champions are ‘confident’ about ‘finding an agreement’ with the Blues ‘in the coming weeks’, with Palmieri coming in to replace Ashley Young, who will be leaving on a free at the end of June.
Il Mattino report this on Wednesday, explaining that Palmieri to Naples ‘remains open’ as he has ‘given his approval’ to the new manager, and ‘would be ready to leave Chelsea to join him’.
It’s believed negotiations could ‘take off’ in the coming weeks as they try and avoid his price going up too much due to his inclusion in the Euros.
And if that wasn’t enough, TuttoMercatoWeb reckon Maurizio Sarri, who is reportedly in talks to take over at Lazio to replace the aforementioned Inzaghi, also wants Palmieri and has included him as one of his requests to take the job.
All in all, the Chelsea left-back is a very wanted man, and all this despite him only making 36 appearances in all competitions for the Blues over the past two seasons.
