Chelsea have been linked with a few German players just months after the west London club appointed Thomas Tuchel as Frank Lampard’s successor late in January.
Bayern Munich’s Niklas Süle is among them and on April 20th, Sky Germany reported the former Paris Saint-Germain manager’s interest in the defender has become serious since taking over at Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old will enter his final year of his contract soon and, as Abendzeitung explained in May, the Bavarian club could well imagine offloading him in the summer, if there’s no renewal. It was also explained Tuchel is ‘still very interested’ in his compatriot.
Süle’s been restricted to only 16 league starts, and due to his ‘fluctuating performances’, he has lost his place in the Bundesliga winners’ starting lineup.
Internally, Bayern are ‘not satisfied’ with the player’s development, which is why talks over a new deal are ‘progressing slowly’.
When discussing options, the Champions League winners get a mention and their interest could be driven by Tuchel’s desire to have him at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are interested in Süle, and Bild believe the ‘change probability’ for the German is at ’35 percent’.
