Last month, Brentford star Ivan Toney returned to the pitch after completing an eight-month suspension, and since then the striker has already scored two goals from three games.
He was linked with a move away from the Premier League side in the winter market, but the Bees didn’t receive any firm offers.
That’s according to Brentford manager Thomas Frank, and he revealed this when speaking to the Danish media, relayed by TV2 Sport.
“This winter we actually had no bid for him, but it will surprise me if there are not a lot of clubs that will be interested in him,” he said.
The England international had starred for Brentford last season, managing 20 goals and four assists from 33 league games. This has seen him draw attention from other clubs.
“It’s relatively obvious that Ivan Toney will probably be sold this summer. It can be expensive to sell your best player, but conversely, I also know that this summer he only has one year left on his contract with us,” Frank explained.
The manager would like to hold on to his player, while he’s also keen to know how Toney would fare at a top club.
“We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now,” the Brentford manager added.
“He’s a really skilled striker who is in his prime football age. Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney, but one day it could be nice to see him on a top team.”
