Thomas Christiansen hasn’t taken on a new role since leaving Leeds United in early February 2018.
The manager had been well liked by fans of the Yorkshire club but a poor run of results and no clear way forward saw the Championship side make a change.
Paul Heckingbottom’s reign at Elland Road didn’t have the hoped for impact either, but things have been very different under Marcelo Bielsa, who is now very much a hero to the Leeds United fanbase.
Out of work for just over a year, Christiansen could be on the verge of the Brondby job, report Bold in Denmark.
The 45 year old spent some of his youth career at the Danish club and has made it clear he’d been keen on returning there should the opportunity be offered.
Bold explain that Christiansen is being strongly linked and is one of the favourites with Danish bookmakers to get the position.
They quote the former Leeds United manager as saying: “I can see myself in Danish football, and if there is a club I want, then it is Brondby, because it is my club in Denmark.
“I am from Avedore, and when I was young, I cycled to Brondby and saw the team play. I also managed to play in the club as a youth player when I came as a 15-year-old before I moved to Barcelona as an 18-year-old. I’m always open if Brondby calls.”
He was close to taking over at AEK Athens recently, but lost out in the end: “I was actually in Greece and got it all negotiated. The vice president and the sports director wanted me, but it is the president who decides and he would have Manolo Jimenez who they hired instead.”
