Towards the end of October, we relayed a tweet from Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira who claimed Liverpool were readying a €25m offer for AS Roma’s Emerson Palmieri.
Only just recovering from a ligament injury in his knee, the 23-year-old left-back has only played 15 minutes in the league so far this season, but that hasn’t put off the Reds.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool are still interested in the former Brazil U17 international, and they could get him if the offer is right as Roma could be convinced to let him go.
Monchi is already well into his January transfer window preparations for the Serie A outfit, and the Italian newspaper state that if an offer of around €20m were to land on his desk, he’d give an exit the green light.
This is a bit less than what Schira reported a few months ago, but with a lack of game time, Roma probably know they can’t ask for too much from interested clubs.
Interestingly enough, it’s also a similar offer to the Liverpool were said to be ‘preparing’ back in August, when TuttoMercatoWeb claimed the price was then €21m.
Either way, that’s three different outlets who are reporting similar stories.
There might just be something in it after all, but Liverpool might want to stop ‘preparing’ bids and just put one forward.
Otherwise they’ll get nowhere.
