Thierry Henry has ‘put in a good word’ for Anderlecht’s Sambi Lokonga at Arsenal as they continue to be linked with a move.
Lokonga has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the last few days, with reports stating that they are following him ‘most intensively’.
That was followed by a claim they are the ‘most interested’ club in him this summer, and Anderlecht are keen to sell as they need the money.
Voetbal 24 pick up on that today and state that Henry is trying to help things along courtesy of his relationship with Vincent Kompany.
The pair are good friends, and the website states that he has ‘put in a good word’ at his former club to try and help Kompany’s current club, Anderlecht, ‘do some good business’ and get Lokonga to Arsenal.
It’s believed that with ‘a little help’ from Henry, the transfer could even be completed ‘sooner than expected’.
Indeed, it’s rumoured in ‘agent circles’ that Henry has been ‘touting’ the 21-year-old to Arsenal because he is ‘very charmed’ by him, and this has got the Gunners ‘excited’ about a deal.
His efforts have made the difference, and it’s now up to Arsenal to make the last push with a bid, which they are planning to do.
Anderlecht want €15-20m for their man, a fee that ‘should not be a problem’ for Arsenal this summer.
