In a rather strange turn of events, there was some negative news on Wednesday morning regarding Chelsea’s hopes of signing Jules Koundé.
Diario De Sevilla were the bearer of the bad tidings, and it was explained that ‘the signs indicate’ the Blues won’t be signing the France international.
Chelsea have been touted as the favourites to land the Sevilla star for quite some time now, and with Kurt Zouma potentially heading to West Ham United, it was clear a space would open up for a transfer.
Well, not everyone is as doomy and gloomy as the Spaniard, as journalist Gianluigi Longari believes the Blues’ chase of Koundé is far from over.
#Kounde deal: talks are ongoing through the agent, not club to club. #Sevilla request is for around 60M for the CB. #Chelsea could afford when #Zouma to #WHUF became a done deal. Still no offer from #CFC at the moment, but they’re working on it. @tvdellosport

Taking to Twitter with the news for Sportitalia, he explained that ‘talks are ongoing through the agent’ and ‘not club to club’.
As things stand, Sevilla’s demands are ‘around €60m’ for the defender, which is a fee ‘Chelsea could afford when Zouma to West Ham becomes a done deal’.
For now, there is ‘still no offer’ from the Blues, but ‘they’re working on it’.
Let’s see whether he’s right in the coming days…
