Chelsea star Marc Cucurella has revealed he thinks he’s being targeted in the Premier League this season after his success with Spain at Euro 2024.

The defender has been speaking to COPE about various topics ahead of the international break, in which he will be featuring for Spain once again.

He was one of the big stars of the summer in Germany, becoming a key player for Spain as they went on to win the tournament with a victory over England in the final.

It continued what have been a positive few months for the player, who appears to have finally gotten over his early struggles at Chelsea and established himself as a key player for the club.

It means his status is now higher than it’s ever been, which has led to increased attention from fans and pundits alike.

Indeed, most of the summer was spent with a song being dedicated to him and regularly sung by Spanish fans, causing it’s own issues, particularly with Erling Haaland.

And the Chelsea man admits he has noticed an increased attention on him, which is also affecting things on the pitch.

“You have more impact; people know you more. Being champion of the Euros is historic and you will always take it with you,” he said when asked if things have changed after Euro 2024.

“Well, I’ve already been suspended for five yellow cards, and I’ve committed very few fouls; they’re going after me a bit,” he added when asked if that’s showing in the Premier League.

“They jump on me quickly, especially when we play away. It’s normal, we won, I was involved in the play that led to the goal, I’m playing at their home… it’s normal, they’re hurt.”
