West Ham United’s hunt for a striker in the winter market wasn’t fruitful as no new No.9 came through the door at the London Stadium.
The Hammers were linked to various attackers and even made bids for a few of them, which were turned down.
Cádiz CF striker Anthony Lozano was one of the players said to be wanted by the David Moyes’ side in the last window.
Despite rumours of the Premier League side’s interest in the Honduras international, the local media had stated the 27-year-old would not leave the La Liga side in January.
AS have carried out a long interview with Lozano and in the second part of the chat, the West Ham rumours were discussed. The frontman was directly asked if there was any offer from the English club.
He said: “I don’t know, the truth is that I don’t know if it was real (he says with a laugh). They didn’t tell me anything. They always get rumours.
“I am very happy here. I want to end the season here, that we save ourselves and then let’s see if I can continue here for many years.
“The truth is that the people of Cádiz are similar to those of Honduras in character. They are very happy people who are always messing around, as they say here. I adapted very quickly, like Tenerife, also in terms of weather.”
Lozano scored nine goals and registered two assists to help Cádiz get promoted to La Liga last season, and that convinced the Spanish club to make his stay permanent. He has netted only three times in 20 league appearances this season.
