Jota Silva has managed a goal and an assist since joining Nottingham Forest from Vitória Guimarães in the summer window.
Nuno Espírito Santo has used him on both wings and as an attacking midfielder, and Silva played 45 minutes in Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.
After the tie, the 25-year-old had a chat with DAZN in Portugal and his comments are relayed by CNN Portugal.
Despite the defeat against the Gunners, the Reds manager praised the attacker’s display and praised him in the post-match press conference. When was asked about this, Silva said he’s more focused on achieving objectives of the club rather than on his individual performances.
The Portuguese has also revealed the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager has made it easier for him to adapt at Nottingham Forest.
“It’s good to hear the coach’s words, but there’s no vanity. I will continue to do my best, as I have been doing, so that when I am called upon, I will make my contribution in the minutes I have the opportunity,” he said.
“It’s been great working with Nuno Espírito Santo. Having a Portuguese coach in my first season outside Portugal is always great to help me integrate. It’s been fantastic.”
Nottingham Forest are currently seventh in the table, four points behind second placed Manchester City and three behind third placed Arsenal.
Silva got opportunities in the top division for the first time in his career when Casa Pia signed him in 2021, and his journey so far has been an example for young talents in his country.
On this subject, Silva explained: “My story means a lot. These young people who look to me as an example leave me very grateful for now.
“It’s not giving up, it’s working, because luck takes a lot of work. You don’t have to let anyone tell you that you can’t get where you want to go. Every day is an opportunity for us to improve. Dreaming is good and one day we can achieve our dreams.”
