Jurgen Locadia arrived at Brighton & Hove Albion during the winter transfer window but it’s taking time for him to settle in, partly because he was carrying an injury he’d picked up at PSV.
Everything has started pretty well on the pitch with two goals in his first two matches for Brighton, and a good performance in the FA Cup against Manchester United on Saturday. But there’s some disappointment for the player that he isn’t in Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad.
Dutch football is a long way from its peak and it may have been expected the two goals from Locadia would have caught Koeman’s eye and led to a call-up for friendlies. It wasn’t to be, and the Brighton player has been speaking to De Telegraaf about the situation.
Locadia told the Dutch newspaper: “The PSV version of Jurgen might have said something about it, and recently I didn’t play at all during a Brighton match, so I have a tendency to go to the manager, but there’s no point. I have to make sure that Mr. Koeman and the trainer at my club can no longer look around me.”
The 24 year old wanting to make himself a must pick for both Koeman and Chris Hughton can only be a good thing for Brighton.
