Earlier this week, Ajax goalkeeper André Onana made his first appearance since serving a suspension for violating doping rules.
His contract expires in 2022 and in recent months, he’s been linked to various clubs, including Arsenal and Inter Milan.
The Gunners signed Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United in the last window. The 23-year-old has managed to get ahead of Bernd Leno, to become the first-choice keeper at the Emirates.
Leno’s contract runs down in 2023, but a lack of minutes could see him move elsewhere sooner rather than later.
On November 14th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the north London club are in the mix to sign the Cameroon international. Four days ago, the same newspaper explained the 25-year-old had ‘just said no’ to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Onana has given interview to Ziggo Sport, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, where he stressed that recent reports saying he has already signed for Inter are ‘nonsense’.
“I’ve wanted to talk about that for some time: I was in Salou [for individual training],” he said.
“There was an article about me every day. Then it was Arsenal, then it was Lyon, pfff… I was tired of it, the media thinks it should inform me about my own life, come on. Do I have an agreement with another club? I still have a contract with Ajax. It’s rubbish.”
