On February 10th, Brighton & Hove Albion confirmed that an agreement has been reached with FC Nordsjælland for Ibrahim Osman’s transfer. He’s agreed a contract until 2029 and will arrive at The Amex after this season.

Prior to the Seagulls securing the deal, the forward was linked to other English clubs. Last week, he explained the Brighton move is a good step for him to continue his development.

Denmark’s Bold had a chat with the 19-year-old and asked him to explain his decision to pick Brighton, amid interest from other clubs.

“I chose Brighton because of the style of play and because they give young players the chance to play, just like is the case here at Nordsjælland. When you perform at Brighton, you get to play. That’s why I chose Brighton,” he said.

“It feels really good to me. I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and improve day in and day out. I have to get ready so that I can get the right development in my next chapter.”

West Ham United had shown keen interest in securing the Ghanaian’s services in the winter market and had even made an offer to the Danish club. However, the operation didn’t take shape due to a drama involving agents.

Last month, BT stated Osman is represented by Darryl Powel but wanted Mitch Bakkovens to take care of his interests. The former had contacted the Danish football association to sort out the dispute.

The Brighton signing has made it clear that he’s not focusing on the saga around agents.

“I’m actually not that focused on it. I’m only here to play, so I don’t think about anything outside of football at all. I’m a young boy and all I need is to play and perform. That’s just the way it is,” Osman explained.

“I haven’t read anything about it all, while I also don’t really get to know what’s going on around me. As a footballer, everyone wants to talk about you. I will only do something about those things that I can control. I can’t do anything about the rest.”

Osman arrived in Europe when Nordsjælland took him from Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy in January 2023. He’s managed four goals and five assists from 40 games so far.
