Valencia continue to be impressed with what Bryan Gil has shown them since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur in the January window.
Shortly after the 21-year-old arrived at the Spanish side on loan, some of the claims in the club’s local media got carried away, and Gil was held aloft as a player capable of moments of brilliance like Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona.
He’s yet to score since the move was sealed, and has provided a single assist, in a 4-1 defeat against Barcelona, but there’s still a feeling Valencia will want to sign him on a longer term basis.
Estadio Deportivo say ‘that’s the plan’ at Los Che, and it’s now a case of working out a deal which pleases Spurs.
Despite Valencia’s desire to keep Gil in the longer term, and the report says they ‘work’ to seal it, not a lot of coverage is being given to Tottenham’s potential plan for his future. There’s lots of worry about a potential loan fee or even a permanent transfer, but not much relating to the possibility Antonio Conte could value the player.
Luis Enrique announces his Spain squad today, and there’s a chance Gil will be in it. If so, it would surely add pressure for Conte to find a role for the player at Tottenham.
