Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Sasa Kalajdzic has admitted a return to the Bundesliga would be great this summer, but he’s yet to talk to the club about his future.

SportBILD have an interview with the Austrian striker today in which he admits he’s hoping for a transfer so he can get back on track.

It’s been a miserable few years for Kalajdzic at Wolves as he’s suffered a cruciate ligament tear in either knee.

The first came in September 2022, suffered on his first game for Wolves, and saw him spend 275 days on the treatment table, missing 43 games for club and country.

After fighting his way back from that and trying to recover on loan at Frankfurt, he tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee. He’s been out ever since but is now on the verge of a comeback, raising the question of what happens next.

With 14 appearances totalling 327 minutes it’s unlikely he’s in Wolves’ plans moving forwards, with them already signing the likes of Jorgen Strand Larsen to replace him.

Playing in the physically intensive Premier League may not be the best idea either, something Kalajdzic himself admits, as he instead thinks a return to the Bundesliga could be the smart choice.

“There are still a few discussions to be had before I know where I’m headed in the summer,” he said.

“I don’t want to rule anything out. I can’t speak for Wolves either. The Premier League is a step above the Bundesliga in terms of pace and intensity. It’s perhaps not the most optimal league to come back from an injury.

“But that’s looking too far into the future. Something new can happen every week. But I definitely need minutes. And I know the Bundesliga, the Bundesliga knows me: If that were to happen, that would be great.”
