Crystal Palace owner John Textor is using his links with David Blitzer as a potential route to buying Portuguese club Estoril.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says Textor is considering adding the Portuguese side to his group of clubs alongside Crystal Palace.

The journalist reports that Textor is ‘thinking of buying’ Estoril, who are currently bottom of Liga Portugal.

He reports that Textor has already travelled to Portugal to visit the club’s facilities as he eyes up a move to potentially help another of his club’s, Botafogo.

According to him the Portuguese law on ‘extra community players’ interests the American as he believes it could be used to help develop young players from Botafogo.

As yet there are no substantiative talks or anything of that nature regarding a takeover and it remains to be seen if he could agree a deal with current owner David Blitzer.

That is where Crystal Palace come into things, though, as Textor is a co-owner of the club with Blitzer and the likes of Steve Parish and Josh Harris. That means he has a relationship with the Estoril owner that he could take advantage of.

Crystal Palace are one of several clubs owned by the American, who also owns Botafogo, RWD Molenbeek and Lyon.
