Manchester United will need to convince Leon Goretzka to leave Bayern Munich this summer, with the player not currently thinking of leaving Bavaria.
That’s according to Abend Zeitung, who say despite reports of a possible move away from the Allianz Arena, that is not currently on the cards for Goretzka.
A report earlier this week indicated that the situation around the midfielder may be changing as he had been pushed down the pecking order at Bayern under Thomas Tuchel.
Abend Zeitung pick up on that today and explain despite Goretzka being out of the picture in pre-season so far, Goretzka ‘still believes’ in his chances under Tuchel.
So far, he has not made any ‘request’ to depart and, according to AZ’s information, a move away this summer is currently not an issue he is exploring.
Manchester United are believed to be interested in the midfielder, but so far there has been no specific request from the player and so a transfer isn’t on the cards.
The message being sent out is a clear one, he doesn’t want talks with other clubs, he wants to stay at Bayern. Likewise, Goretzka has not received any indications from Bayer that he is not a part of their plans.
The player, therefore, is ‘optimistic’ about his chances this season and that he can beat newcomer Konrad Laimer to a starring role.
Thus, a move to Manchester United does not appear to be on the cards and if Erik ten Hag is as keen on him as been stated, he may need to get to work convincing the player.
