Even if you were living under a rock for most of the transfer window, you would not have been able to escape Manchester United’s alleged pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat.

The midfielder has been widely linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer as Erik ten Hag continues to try and reshape his squad, but the lack of sales from the Red Devils has hindered that.

Labaro Viola have a lengthy article on the matter on Tuesday, and explain how Amrabat’s entourage, whispering in his ear the prospect of transfers to the likes of Barcelona and then Manchester United, have put his career at a very difficult crossroads.

They explain those around him ‘had promised offers that never came’, and he is now ‘blocked’ at Fiorentina, where he doesn’t want to be.

The result of all this means that we are now August 29th and Fiorentina have ‘never received any official offer’ for their star.

Amrabat even had a ‘promise’ from the Manchester United manager that he would ‘take him to England’, and while there have been ‘several dialogues’ between the Red Devils and their Italian counterparts ‘through intermediaries’, no bid has ever arrived.

What comes next remains a mystery, as everything could change in the final days of the window, even if that is doubtful, but the fact of the matter is the Morocco international isn’t playing for his side because he ‘isn’t in the optimal psycho-physical conditions to do so’.

He ‘no longer wants to stay’ at Fiorentina, meaning everything needs to be resolved in the next four days or the Serie A side have a lot of work to do.

This is all echoed in Corriere Fiorentino, who state that a ‘forced stay’ for Amrabat in Florence is something that has to ‘be taken into consideration’.

Such a scenario would force them to undergo a ‘difficult work of mending and motivation’ going forward, seeing as the player has ‘never made a secret that he considers his experienced in Florence closed’.

Manchester United and Atlético Madrid have constantly been ‘remaining on the fence’ when it comes to making an offer, and this limbo has helped absolutely no-one, least of all a player who has been promised great things by those around him only for nothing to materialise.
