As the Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela recovers from his injury, there’s a big wish from Argentina to bring the player back to his old club.
River Plate, as reported by Radio La Red (via InfoBae), are moving silently to try to sign the 24-year-old soon so they could have him in the squad for Copa Libertadores this season.
The information claims that the ‘conversations have started’, even though it’s not clear if the club are speaking to Spurs or to Lamela’s entourage.
The winger played for River Plate until moving to Roma in 2011, but by leaving at 19, he couldn’t really show his full potential for the Millonario.
Lamela often gives interviews to Argentine outlets and River Plate fan websites to speak about the club. The club’s board and supporters always regret having seen him leave so early, so maybe this is a good chance to finally bring him back.
What Mauricio Pochettino would make of it all is quite another thing. Any move would be on a loan basis, and Argentina’s transfer window closes on February 21st.
