Besiktas board member, Metin Albayrak has been quizzed by the Turkish media about his club’s interest in Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

The Turkish club are looking to replace 34 year old Atiba Hutchinson at the end of the season, and Fellaini is an option.

The Manchester United star has been linked with a move to Istanbul and Albayrak was asked about the possibility of the Belgian signing for Besiktas: “We always have time for transfers, we always work for possible signings that’ll make our team better. Not only for Marouane, we are in talks with other players as well. Let’s see what the future brings.”

These comments will certainly excite Besiktas fans, as signing the Manchester United player would be a huge statement of intent by the club.

The Belgian international has yet to commit himself to a new deal to remain at Old Trafford, and with his contract set to expire next summer he can talk to other clubs in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement.

Fellaini has been a favourite of Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, and the 29 year old has been getting a run of games this season, with him being missed after a recent injury.
