Linked with a number of clubs during his time at RB Salzburg, Diadie Samassékou decided to take the next logical step from Austria to Germany when TSG Hoffenheim came knocking.
The Bundesliga side paid close to £11m for the defensive midfielder, who became a first-team player under Alfred Schreuder after recovering from a muscle injury early in the season.
However, the player has one dream, and that’s playing in the Premier League, where he has a preference for Manchester United.
Speaking to Onze Mondial, the midfielder was asked about his aspirations of playing in England’s top-tier.
He said: “Of course, since I was little, I’ve been a big fan of Manchester United. Playing in that league has always made me dream, and I want to give myself the means to achieve that goal”.
The French magazine then pointed out a new spot could be made available for him in the club’s midfield if Paul Pogba were to leave.
He laughed: “I hope he stays there because he’s a player that does them a lot of good, but football goes so quickly”.
Wanting to become ‘one of the best African players’, Samassékou knows he has a lot of work ahead of himself, but if he keeps his trajectory going and helps Hoffenheim achieve their goals, who knows where he might end up?
