A few days ago Marca reported that Emiliano Buendia was on the verge of a move to Swansea City. Owned by Getafe, the Spanish newspaper said Buendia was keen to get more minutes than he had enjoyed last season, and it was felt he could find his top level playing in another league.
That was quite optimistic on behalf of the 20 year old Argentine forward. Far more experienced players have arrived at Swansea with big hopes only to see them dashed. Quite why the Welsh club would provide more opportunities than Getafe, whilst only having the player on loan, was a mystery.
Since then the potential deal has gone quiet, and Marca have a tiny little update in their Tuesday newspaper. It’s explained that ‘Emi’ hasn’t completed his transfer to Swansea City because there’s now also interest from Tenerife, and there’s uncertainty about which option is better.
For Buendia, at this stage of his career, the Tenerife option may be better than Swansea, unless he fancies a great big gamble.
