According to Turkish newspaper Gunes, Fenerbahce are interested in signing Watford’s Austrian defender Sebastian Prodl in the January transfer window.
The Turkish club are in the market for a reliable central defender and Gunes say Prodl is currently the Yellow Canaries first choice. With doubts over the future of Martin Skrtel, the Istanbul club could see the Austrian as an ideal replacement.
It’s reported Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal wants to work with the Austria international and the Turkish side are ready to offer €1.5m to Watford to sign the player.
The 32 year old is currently being overlooked by Watford manager Javi Gracia and he’s played just 13 minutes of Premier League football this season.
Gunes claim Prodl is also open to leaving Watford to get more first team football elsewhere and Fenerbahce could offer him this due to the lack of central defensive options in their squad.
Prodl is under contract at Watford until June 2021 and €1.5m may not be seen as enough.
