If you thought Jose Mourinho leaving Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking over was going to see transfer rumours go quiet for a while… you thought wrong.
There are columns which need filling and, as ever, the Old Trafford club will be a favourite for those coming up with the stories.
Calciomercato have picked up claims from Rai Sport of a ‘Super €60m offer’ from the Premier League for Douglas Costa. It’s claimed the proposal has been made for the Brazilian, but right now Juventus are minded to knock it back.
Costa is 28 years of age and has a contract with Juventus lasting until June 2022. He’s a left footer who would be considered a flexible attacker, mainly playing on the right but also able to do so on the left or through the middle.
There’s long been a feeling that Manchester United need a right sided attacker but given Solskjaer has only just taken over, the club probably want to see how their attacking options work with the new manager… and judging from Saturday’s game it’s going very well.
