French midfielder Yann M’Vila spent last season on loan at Sunderland, and played a role in helping them stay in the Premier League.
On Sunday, French newspaper L’Equipe say Sunderland are keen on signing M’Villa permanently this summer.
The 25-year-old has another year left on his contract at Rubin Kazan, and has already returned for pre-season training there.
Sunderland, however, want to quickly wrap up a transfer, and have already started negotiations with Rubin Kazan.
The player shouldn’t cost much, since he has only year left on his existing deal at the Russian club.
It is reported Yann M’Vila would also be very interested in signing for Sunderland, but it remains to be seen if all parties can reach to an agreement.
Yann M’Vila was heavily involved for Sunderland this season, making 37 league appearances.
