Fiorentina remain interested in Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson, according to reports from Italy.

La Viola had already been linked to the player back in January, and now Calcio Mercato claim they have him on a shortlist of signings for the summer window.

As Larsson’s contract is expiring at the end of the season, the Italian side hope to get an easy deal as there isn’t much competition mentioned.

On the player’s side, Calcio Mercato say he’s waiting for Fiorentina’s call, which practically puts the decision in the Serie A side’s hands.

Signed from Birmingham City for free in 2011, Larsson turned out to be a very important player for Sunderland, making over 200 appearances for the club.

This season, however, the player struggled with injuries and couldn’t help the team the same way. Now with relegation and the end of his contract getting closer, it seems the end of the line for Larsson at the club.
