On Sunday, West Ham officially announced David Moyes as their new manager, using a series of images and videos which brought a strange sense of doom to the appointment.
Manuel Pellegrini had huge hopes attached him at the Hammers, and despite flashes of potential the experiment didn’t work, leaving the Premier League club to return to their former boss.
According to claims from Italy, the managerial change hasn’t stopped West Ham in the transfer market.
Il Mattino reports the club have got in the way of Napoli’s talks to sign Stanislav Lobotka from Celta Vigo.
The Spanish club want an immediate sale, and it’s insinuated this would be the case with West Ham. Meanwhile, Napoli would prefer a loan with a right of redemption which could reach €22m in the summer.
Celta want €27m.
Lobotka’s desire remains Napoli, and Il Mattino believe that could be crucial, although it’s made clear that West Ham should not be ‘underestimated’.
A summit in London will take place on Monday, in an effort to get the transfer to Napoli agreed, however, the Italian side could back away if they feel Celta are trying to create an auction.
There’s every chance West Ham are being used by Celta to try and get more money out of Napoli. Relations between the Hammers and the Spanish club are poor, and this was demonstrated by them refusing to listen to offers for Maxi Gomez in the summer.
