When a player from the Premier League goes out on loan somewhere, we tend to try and keep an eye on how he fares, and Clinton N’Jié has been no different.
Sent to Marseille temporarily by Mauricio Pochettino, the young forward has had a rather up and down season in the south of France, mostly playing second fiddle to Bafétimbi Gomis.
However, it appears the 23-year-old has done enough to impress the club’s manager, Rudi Garcia, to earn himself a spot in his plans next season.
This is, at least, what France Football are reporting this week in their magazine, as they look at the Ligue 1 side’s project for the upcoming transfer window.
Considering N’Jié is currently on loan from Tottenham, this must mean Marseille have either triggered the player’s release clause, or plan on doing so before the end of the season.
With the current crop of players at White Hart Lane, there is very little room for the Cameroon forward, suggesting an extended stay in Ligue 1 could be what’s best for his career at this moment in time.
Confirmation of this should come soon if Garcia does indeed want him in his squad for the 2017/18 campaign.
