Mario Gotze spent the beginning of this week on a yacht sailing off the coast of Mallorca with Andre Schurrle.
Four years ago the pair had just become world champions, combining for Germany in the final to score the winning goal and win the trophy. Times have been much harder since, especially for Gotze.
Whilst Schurrle is finding some joy with Fulham in the Premier League right now, Gotze continues to struggle at Borussia Dortmund. With no appearances for BVB so far this season, the former Germany international is at a career low.
Bild take a look at the player’s situation, once again, and come to the conclusion he can only play under ‘foster father Klopp’.
Gotze played his best football under the now Liverpool manager and the pair were clearly very close, with both saying repeatedly saying in interviews that they keep in touch.
The German newspaper have taken stats to show that Gotze even ran faster under the Liverpool boss, but there’s every chance that was related to other issues especially with the BVB player struggling with illness since.
It’s unlikely Klopp is returning to Dortmund any time soon, so to reunite and test out Bild’s theory, Gotze would have to move to Liverpool… if they’d have him.
