Following the international break, clubs welcomed back their players hoping there weren’t any unknown fitness issues.
For some, including Manchester City, there was the bad news of a positive Covid-19 test. Kevin De Bruyne had been away with Belgium, and unfortunately picked up a positive result at the end of the international break, meaning he was unavailable for manager Pep Guardiola.
Borussia Dortmund’s Thorgan Hazard and VfL Wolfsburg’s Koen Casteels have also tested positive, meaning there’s a worry of a Belgian connection through the infections. That sees Tuesday’s edition of HLN bring Liverpool into the picture.
Divock Origi wasn’t in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the weekend victory over Arsenal.
HLN say that, off-the-record, the Reds have said Origi hasn’t tested positive, and the newspaper then adds: ‘The coming days will show how he really is — whether he has also been quarantined preventively?’
Klopp is set to speak on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League match against FC Porto, and it’s thought the manager may provide some clarity on his player’s situation, and whether Origi is being kept away from others in the squad.
