Kai Havertz to Chelsea could be edging closer.
Last week there wasn’t an awful lot in the German on the potential move, just an assumption that it would happen soon. Towards the end of the week, media close to Bayer Leverkusen reported the Blues were yet to meet the full €100m asking price, which it was stated the Bundesliga club wanted guaranteed.
At the same time it was claimed Friday could be key, because that’s when Havertz was due at Bayer to have a Covid-19 test following his vacations. He turned up for that, but Bild explain he would have done regardless of a Chelsea deal, due to needing the test before joining up with Germany’s national squad.
Sunday was set to see the Bayer Leverkusen squad have physical checks ahead of preseason, and Bild say Havertz wasn’t there.
For them, that’s an indication that things are moving along and the Chelsea signing could be ‘announced soon’.
It’s circumstantial evidence, of course, yet still a pretty good hint things are closing in.
