L’Equipe suggest the reason could be related to an impending transfer for the attacking midfielder.
Several clubs from Europe’s top five leagues are keen on the player, with serious interest ‘particularly’ coming from Leeds United, Wolves and Arsenal in the Premier League.
The 21 year old scored four league goals in 20 Ligue 1 matches last season, before French football was brought to a premature stop due to the Covid-19 crisis. That was his first season in France’s top division, having moved to Dijon from Lens.
L’Equipe estimate that Leeds, Wolves or Arsenal would have to pay around €15m-20m to make the transfer happen this summer. A switch at that amount would make Chouiar the biggest sale in Dijon’s history.
Lens are entitled to 20% of the transfer fee.
A France youth international, the right footer has been playing a mix of left wing and attacking midfield for Dijon.
