Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Fenerbahce are interested in loaning Aston Villa striker Mbwana Samatta.

He’s been linked with a move to Turkey since the transfer window opened and reports earlier this week said Fener’s arch-rivals Besiktas are also in for him.

Fenerbahce are currently in advanced negotiations with Lazio over the sale of their star forward Vedat Muriqi, and Fanatik say Samatta could be his replacement.

According to Fanatik, we could see significant developments in the coming days and Samatta could leave on a temporary basis.

The 27 year old only joined Dean Smith’s side in January from Genk, but he scored just one Premier League goal.

Last week they signed Ollie Watkins from Brentford for a club record fee, are chasing at least one more attacker, and subsequently Samatta could leave before the window closes next month.

Smith also has Wesley to return to his squad once he recovers from injury.

Samatta’s contract with the Midlands club will expire at the end of June 2024.
