On Thursday, it was reported in Turkey that Galatasaray had turned their attention to Watford’s Stefano Okaka as they prepare themselves for the departure of Mbaye Diagne.

The Italy international is valued at around €3m after a rather good second half of the season on loan at Udinese, who would ideally like to keep him for the 2019-20 campaign.

Talks to that effect are reportedly underway between the two Pozzo owned clubs, but there are some issues standing in the way.

The main one is the player’s wages, which don’t fit in the Serie A side’s budget for the coming season, meaning the Hornets would have to (like they seemingly did for the past six months) help out if possible.

As things stand, Gazzetta dello Sport state Okaka’s future in his home country is a ‘strong doubt’, especially with Galatasaray showing up with their ability to offer Champions League football and perhaps even a similar wage packet to his Watford one.

Either way, it doesn’t seem like the 29-year-old, whose contract at Vicarage Road is meant to run out in 2021, will be sticking around Hertfordshire for much longer.
