Antonio Cassano believes Dusan Vlahovic has made a mistake joining Juventus and would have been better served signing for Arsenal or Tottenham.
Vlahovic completed a £58m move from Fiorentina at the end of the window, bringing an end to months of speculation about his future.
The highly-rated striker has been a hot topic on the transfer market for months after it became clear he would not be extending his deal with Fiorentina.
That left them looking to sell this month rather than let him enter the final year of his deal in the summer, something which would have forced them to sell on the cheap.
The 22-year-old was being chased by clubs all around Europe, with Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League both making moves to try and get him.
Indeed the Gunners pushed extremely hard, with numerous reports over the last month or so covering their efforts to convince the striker on the move to the Emirates.
Arsenal didn’t manage to secure him, though, something that Cassano believes is a shame for Vlahavoic.
“Agnelli has made a sensational coup that no one expected, but I am sure that Allegri will not change the way he plays,” he told Bobo TV, relayed by Calciomercato.
“He will play in the exact same way; this will be Juventus with Allegri on the bench. Is the choice of Vlahovic right? In my opinion, it’s completely wrong.
“For the type of player that I think he is, he would have needed an intermediate step, for example, in teams like Arsenal, Tottenham, or the same Sevilla that took Martial.
“Vlahovic can become a strong player, but this is a risky step because he has to show more than he did at Fiorentina. He will have some difficulties, also because of the fact that Juve play badly obviously.
“In addition, I don’t see him matching well with the Juve environment, this is an idea I have. In short, it’s a risky investment both for Juve and for the player.”
