On Tuesday we covered claims from the Netherlands that Joshua Zirkzee is on the verge of switching to Arsenal. The reports came via several Dutch websites and it was explained the 16 year old would be leaving Feyenoord, with Arsenal repeatedly stated as his destination.
There’s been a little twist on Wednesday. SoccerNews, who brought the story forward yesterday, saw Zirkzee has landed in England, but at John Lennon Airport, rather than one in London.
That’s led to suggestions Zirkzee could be on his way to Ronald Koeman’s Everton or Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Both managers have good reputations of working with young players, and Everton also have the Dutch connections through Koeman.
There’s nothing else to link the youngster to Everton or Liverpool, other than that he’s arrived at the city’s airport.
Maybe he was able to fly there cheaper with a Ryan Air special, or perhaps Arsenal could be set to lose the player. Manchester United have also been linked, which would be another possibility for a North West airport, but not strongly.
