Not a great deal is heard about Marc Muniesa in-between transfer seasons, but as soon as they arrive… he’s everywhere.
The Stoke City defender has been flirting with the idea of an exit for a while, and that’s alerted a whole procession of Spanish clubs. In the January transfer window, Muniesa was said to have agreed personal terms to sign for Betis, but no deal was agreed with Stoke City.
At the time it was reported Betis wanted a loan, with a right to buy the player for £2.5m this summer, which Stoke understandably refused.
Thursday’s edition of Spanish newspaper Sport reports that Stoke will let Muniesa pick his own destination this summer, but only after they’ve completed a deal to sign a replacement, and presumably upgrade, defender.
Sport say Girona, Betis, and Malaga are all keen. But, whilst Stoke will let Muniesa pick his destination, it will surely have to be within reason, and to somewhere willing to pay a reasonable fee.
