Catalan newspaper Sport aren’t happy about the Sandro Ramirez situation. They keep saying it, but Barcelona’s decision to let the player, who is on the verge of signing for Everton, go for free is still causing heartache.

Sandro came to the end of his Barcelona contract last summer, and he wasn’t offered a renewal until it was too late. That means the Catalan club weren’t even entitled to training compensation, having missed the cut-off date to put a proposal forward.

As a free agent, Sandro was able to demand a good package from Malaga, and also a really low buyout clause of €6m. Malaga aren’t happy about losing the player for that, but they got him for free, enjoyed 14 goals and 3 assists, and will now almost certainly receive €6m from Everton.

Everyone has won to varying degrees, apart from Barcelona. Malaga got a free transfer they needed and it worked out, Everton get a cheap deal, Sandro has had power over his transfers and enjoyed better wages because of it, but the Blaugranas have suffered a great big loss.

Sport say that there’s more bitterness about the situation with every day that passes… they’re not getting over this one.

The newspaper want to know what went wrong: ‘Errors like this are very expensive both sportingly and financially, and the club’s members (fans) deserve an explanation’

Stop sniggering.
