Stoke City and Mark Hughes have been linked with Sandro Ramirez for over 2 years. In January 2015, after Bojan’s injury, Stoke were said to be looking at either Sandro or Adama Traore to replace the player, both were at Barcelona B at the time.

Since then Sandro has given up the almost impossible fight to break through at Barcelona and moved to Malaga on a free transfer. Because he was unattached, the player and his representatives were able to call the shots and get a release clause of around €6m.

Given how important Sandro has been for Malaga this season, with the 21 year old’s 12 goals crucial in their La Liga survival fight, the amount sounds like a bargain. With Sandro Screen Shot 2017-04-27 at 07.24.47scoring 5 goals in his last five games, transfer links have obviously been further encouraged.

Marca say Stoke are one of the interested clubs, and that’s no surprise given the previous links.

Hughes would face a battle to sign Sandro, given the other interest, and it remains to be seen if Stoke interest is really fresh or has simply been recycled because they were linked previously.
