According to claims in the Dutch media, Ajax central defender Davison Sánchez is likely on his way to Tottenham Hotspur for a little over €40m.
If the deal is really done, it may open the door for Kevin Wimmer to leave Tottenham, believe Austrian outlet LAOLA1. The player has been linked with a move to Stoke City and Crystal Palace in the past week.
LAOLA1 have reported if Sánchez signs for the Premier League club, the chance of Wimmer leaving Tottenham will become likelier, due to the competition for the centre back positions.
Wimmer has opportunities in the Premier League, and Austrian journalist Peter Linden believes Stoke City and Crystal Palace are keen.
Last week LAOLA1 claimed Wimmer was on the radar of West Ham United. However, according to Linden, former journalist of Kroene Zeitung newspaper, Wimmer would have been interested in playing for Hammers, but their manager Slaven Bilić planned to use him more at the position of left-back.
“I’d rather play in the centre,” said Wimmer.

“The interest from Southampton was not really concrete,” he added. “I would like to stay in Premier League, because there are other possibilities.”
Wimmer refused to say the names of these clubs – but Linden revealed them as Stoke City and Crystal Palace.
According to LAOLA1, Tottenham were initially demanding €23m for the Austria international, but now they would be satisfied with €15m.
This wouldn’t be issue for either club, but with Stoke City singing Bruno Martins Indi it’s looking more likely Wimmer could move to Crystal Palace.
