Stoke City’s interest in signing Nani from Fenerbahce is entirely understandable. One of Portugal’s better players at Euro 2016, Nani is still just 29 years of age and may feel he has a point to prove having been shipped out of Manchester United and sent to Turkey.
Originally Nani, who had been frustrating but also impressive during his Old Trafford career, was sent to former club Sporting Lisbon on loan for a year, as part of the Marcos Rojos transfer.
He never got the chance to rebuild his Manchester United and was sold to Fenerbahce for around £4m. That figure has more to do with Manchester United’s pattern of getting under value fees for their sales, than Nani himself.
Now Valencia want to buy the player and he’d probably do well there, but Stoke City’s interest seems to be causing something of an irritation.
Deporte Valenciano have accused the Premier League club of ‘interfering’ in Nani’s path to the Mestalla.
The interest of Stoke City, which has been confirmed by Mark Bowen, is said to be ‘complicating’ matters.
Maybe it’s Valencia who are complicating Nani’s passage to Stoke.
