The front page of Record on Saturday shouts out that Everton could be William Carvalho’s next destination.
Of course, the front page of Record, and other Portuguese newspapers, have shouted out lots of things about Carvalho in recent years, but today’s story has a little more depth to it than usual.
It’s claimed that Everton are preparing a €35m offer for Carvalho, with Ronald Koeman considering the player to be perfect for the project at Goodison Park.
Chief behind that is Steve Walsh, according to a source close to the situation, who it’s stated watched Carvalho for Sporting against Barcelona, Porto, and for Portugal against Switzerland.
Record say ‘The 25-year-old Portuguese international could not have made Walsh more satisfied and convinced’.
It’s claimed Everton are ready to proceed with a first offer of €35m plus bonuses, but that’s below the €45m Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho is asking for.
Two things will strengthen Bruno’s stance, Carvalho’s performance against Switzerland, and the knowledge of what Everton received for Romelu Lukaku.
