Already recruiting Steve Mounié from Montpellier, it appears that Huddersfield have decided the club in the south of France is the ideal place to recruit and prepare for the Premier League.
Seemingly turning to Ligue 1 in a very Newcastlesque move, the newly promoted side are also interested in signing William Rémy from the very same side, according to FootMercato.
Signed from Dijon back in 2015, the 26-year-old was only used sporadically by Montpellier throughout the season, only making 17 appearances in all competitions and picking up one assist.
This isn’t the first time he has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Crystal Palace also said to be interested back in January as they were frantically looking for a centre-back, eventually landing Mamadou Sakho on loan.
As we said at the time, his versatility is certainly something that could attract a lot of clubs, having played at centre-back, defensive midfield and even in the centre of midfield for Montpellier last season.
More natural in the centre of defence, however, Rémy only has one year left on his contract at Montpellier, meaning this summer will be one where a decision will be made.
Judging by how little he was used at Montpellier, our bet is that they’ll try and cash in on him if possible.
If not, he’ll go on a free next year, like he did in 2012 from Lens to Dijon and in 2015 from Dijon to Montpellier.
